About the Activity
Dr Raoul van Loon and Dr Hari Arora, Biomedical Engineering, chaired a highly successful major BioMedEng23 conference at Swansea Arena, which has been the UK’s largest gathering of Biomedical Engineers, Medical Engineers, and Bioengineers since the conference began.
BioMedEng23 started with a welcome event, which saw >100 delegates arrive the night before to mingle and have a good time. The social program continued with the dinner and live music the following evening, providing further opportunities to build connections during the conference.
BioMedEng23 saw >300 delegates plus exhibitors arrive with the team of student helpers from Swansea University ready to welcome everyone. The opening address included regional perspectives on the sector and a warm welcome to Wales by Tonia Antoniazzi MP. Technical highlights included the plenaries, which captured topics and techniques crossing major BioMedEng themes delivered by Sarah Stock (The University of Edinburgh), Tony Cass (Imperial College London), Alicia El Haj (University of Birmingham) and Rachel J Errington (Cardiff University). Over the two days many exciting topics were discussed, including Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Imaging, Digital Health Engineering, and more.
The event was a huge success and a massive pleasure to host. Thanks to all the delegates, exhibitors and those running workshops for contributing to the excellent technical program. A major thanks goes to the Scientific Committee, The BioMedEng Association Committees, the local Conference Organizing Committee and wider support from Swansea University for pulling it all together. We really enjoyed hosting and look forward to welcoming everyone back again soon.
