Abdominal Surgery

Digital models and physical phantoms prove invaluable in surgical training and surgical planning workflows. Suitable surgical experiential properties, which correlate with material properties, is important to ensure good training and a realistic practice surgery. Various models related to women’s health and pregnancy have been developed here to broaden the nature of devices available for training. This work is in collaboration with the Swansea Bay University Health Board. Surgeon are co-creating the devices with the BEST Lab, providing input on requirements as well as evaluating the final devices during practice training sessions. This work was funded by the HTC Accelerate program and the Swansea University EPSRC Impact Accelerator Account.
