About the Activity
PhD students Tom Pritchard and Louis Giron travelled to Radnor Range to perform ballistics experiments. Hari Arora and Dr Liz Williams (a collaborator with the Lab) completed the research team for the day working off-site on a sunny midweek afternoon. The Team were aiming to further our understanding of the fundamental physics of impacts under specific test and support conditions. High-speed imaging captured dynamic effects during projectile impacts. Post-test analysis was then completed at Swansea University within the Advanced Imaging of Materials (AIM) Institute using Micro-CT imaging. This set of experiments is supporting research activity into impact, blast and ballistic protection.
